Hello!
Reports of my demise have been slightly exaggerated. I've just been in a bad place (the Washington DC metropolitan area) and not in a great mental space to post.
Anyway, here's a recap of major stuff I missed writing about.
In late January of this year, I had an extended manic episode (the only one I've ever had) during which prepared to flee the country. Spoiler: I didn't.
Rather than spending my month taking account of all the items in my wardrobe, I instead sold off about a fifth of it in an uncontrollable frenzy. I don't regret what I sold-- everything is in a better place now (my friends' closets). I do regret my state of mind at the time, but there's not much that can be done about it. Sometimes feelings are controllable, but sometimes you just have to ride the hormonal tide until the neurochemical seas calm themselves.
February brought Katsucon, forever my most beloved convention. It was fun, even though my panels took a darker tone at times.
March featured my first vacation in about six years. Chicago is probably my favorite city, and The Great Lace only made it better. Even though I was in town for a week, I really feel like I barely scratched the surface of Chicago's amazing institutions, and I can't wait to go back!
April and May were fairly laid-back-- I mostly just put in a bunch of extra hours at work. The Charm City comm had the Mega-Meet at the end of May, which was a great chance to further tidy up my wardrobe alongside 100+ of my closest friends, even if I did accidentally slip up and buy Enchantlic Enchantilly's Castle of Otranto OP.
And finally, here we are in June. So far this month, I've finished sewing an OP (post coming soon), been to a delightful ILD tea, and celebrated a dear friend's birthday!
I didn't mean to take a break at all, much less a five-month long sabbatical. But I am back and ready to post!
